M.2 SSD Upgrade & Replacment

Hi,

I need to upgrade the 512GB M.2 SSD of my Acer Switch Alpha 12 SA5-271-71NX with 2TB SSD but don't know how to open the back cover.

Many are asking about this and hope you release a guide to describe how this can be done.

Thank you.

mmm... I don't think you'll be able to use the M.2 SSD.

From what I'm finding this system uses a 1.8" mSATA SSD, similar to this one: Kingston SSDNow KC380 1.8" 240GB Micro-SATA 6Gb/s Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SKC380S3/240G. They so far don't offer anything larger than 256 GB.

Sorry I can't find how this exact system is opened but I did find this one: Acer Aspire Switch 10 Keyboard HDD Upgrade. it might give you a clue. If you can please help us! let us know how once you figure it out. Good Luck!

Good news! The Acer Community now has description of how to open up the casing of the Aspire Switch Alpha 12 (SA5-271) and upgrade the SSD. See < http://community.acer.com/t5/Switch-Seri... >.

Good luck! I plan to upgrade mine to a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO when I can afford it ;-)

Cheers, Canadaloon

Hi,

I also own acer aspire switch alpha 12 and I'm interested in ssd upgrade. I found this post in acer forum:

It's look like m.2 SSD. There is no room for 1,8" disk.

So the question is how open the back cover?:-).

I noticed that there are 2 small screws covered by a small plastic cover. One on each side of tablet underneath the kickstand. I don't know go that allows the screen and back to separate, but I don't see any other options. Perhaps using a spudger to separate the back after taking the screws out. I saw some replacement back covers for sale online and it looks like the back housing is one piece and not 2 .
