PC don't recognize phone when using USB

My phone can charge only while connected to my PC, but the PC won't recognize the phone. I want to transfer files from my phone to my PC.

Does anyone know how to change the settings in this phone, so that it can charge as well as transfer files to PC's?

If so please give a step by step account. I am not tech savvy.

Thanks.

I'm having problems with my Blu G5 plus

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

1) open Android Systems (drag finger from top of home screen to open options)

2) Tap Android Systems for more options

3) Click Media Device (MTP) File Transfer

No downloading Necessary

None of the above fixed the USB problem on my G9. The USB options on the phone are greyed out and cannot be changed. I’ve tried 3 different drivers so far. Any other suggestions?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I have a BLU G91 Pro. First hook USB cable up between computer and phone. Then click on settings icon. (On phone) Then type USB in the search box. Click on search icon. Screen comes up. Select USB preferences. Another screen comes up giving you several selections. Select File Transfer/Android Auto. That's the way my phone works.

Hey Lekisha Burrows,

Unfortunately there is no magic software that can help you connect with the phone. I would try Brook Smith's suggestion and see if that helps. If it does not, you may need to try and download software that helps your phone talk to your computer (this software is called a driver). I found some websites that link to Blu Studio 6.0 drivers, but will hold off on linking them to you in order to find how reliable these downloads are.

You are not alone with this problem. Others have suggested checking the USB port too. You can see that suggestion here: USB Device Not Recognized.

Keep us up to date!

I found this, but am going to try it! Have to admit will never buy a BLU phone again after this!!!

How do I transfer files from my Blu phone to my computer?

Move files by USB

  1. Download and install Android File Transfer on your computer.
  2. Open Android File Transfer. ...
  3. Unlock your Android device.
  4. With a USB cable, connect your device to your computer.
  5. On your device, tap the "Charging this device via USB" notification.
  6. Under "Use USB for," select File Transfer.

To allow file transfer between a BLU V81 phone and a PC (Win 10)

- Enter Developer Mode on phone

  • To do this: Select About Devices.  Press Build number until you enter Developer Mode. You will now see "Developer Options" after selecting "More Settings.

- Under Developer Options > Networking > Default USB configuration > Select USB tethering

- New notification "USB file transfer turned on" > Tap for more options

- Select Media device File transfer (USB computer connection)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------ Phone is now recognized by PC when plugged in to USB -------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Afterwards, I updated Windows driver

1. Open Device Manager

2. Go to Network Adapters

3. Right click "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device" and select "Update"

4. Choose "Browse my Computer for driver software"

5. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

6. Uncheck "show compatible hardware"

7. In the manufacturer section, select Microsoft

8. Choose the "Remote NDIS Compatible Device" model and click Next

Also, one step I did prior to making changes to the phone - installed Windows 10 MTK VCOM USB Preloader Drivers. This may be a necessary step if “Select USB tethering” under phone Developer Options doesn’t cause your phone to appear in Windows Explorer (once “Media device File transfer” is selected).

When you connect your phone to your computer you should see an icon to show it's connected. If you pull down the top notification bar you should see the connected message and if you touch it you can change the transfer mode. This will either be an option to use as mass or to transfer files or photos.

Great … in my case i didn’t need to install Android File Transfer . I just tapped in the “USB computer connection” notification (just scrolled down the screen to get the notifications) and chose “File Transfer “ option . Right after G8 appeared in my File Transfer screen in the computer !!! Solved …. now i can access files into my BLU G8 phone.

*Just a remark … Once i disconnect the USB cable and reconnect , the notification didn’t came up again .. in order to fix it i just restarted the cell phone .

I have video files I want to transfer from my phone to my computer and can’t.

None of this crap actually answers or addresses any problems when the phone is connected to the computer via USB but when you go to access it, it says it’s empty.

There are no drives you can install because it says the drivers are already up to date and this device is working properly which it’s not because if the device was working properly when connected to the computer, the directory wouldn’t be empty. not too mention the drivers give an error message saying device not found despite it’s connected to the computer.

There isn’t a single thing addressing this problem. People also need to stop being cryptic when they talk for example what does I tapped in the USB computer connection even mean? He scrolled to the right. what is this person even talking about? they haven’t specified if they are on their computer or their phone.

Also, what does Scrolled to the right mean? Scroll to what right, and from where?

Hi,

Normally when you connect a USB cable between the phone and a PC a message will appear on the phone's screen asking what option you want for the USB connection, e.g. Charge only, File transfer connection etc.

You then tap the option you want.

If you tap the file transfer option the PC will recognize this and it will load the drivers in the PC so that you can find the phone " drives" i.e. the phone's internal memory and also the SD card (if it is inserted into the phone) in the PC's File Explorer program.

Scroll to the right means "swipe right" on the phone i.e. place your finger on the screen and drag it from right to left to move the screen to show a different set of settings or options.

Maybe search online for "(insert make and model number of your phone) user manual" to find and download the user manual as it will explain how to do file transfers exactly for your model
