I have a Marantz model 1040 amplifier that wont turn on. I checked all of the fuses, they are good, and when the amp is plugged in, I can get power through one of the outlets that is on the back of the amp. Still doesn't turn on. Not sure where to start.

kalewenczel I'd start by looking at the power supply for the amp. You will have to disassemble it. Take plenty of pictures and post those with your question. Use this guide for that. It will allow us to see what you see. Check the large capacitors and diodes on the power board. Attached image shows the location of the parts
and here is the schematic for it
You do not just want to check the fuses for continuity but check to see if you have power on them as well. Let us know what you find.

Check the power switch on the receiver. Make sure is is getting power to it and not broken inside. This units are notorious for this.
