The HTC One (codenamed M7) is HTC's 2013 flagship smartphone. It features a seamlessly designed unibody aluminum frame, large dual front-facing speakers, and a 4.7-inch 1080p display.

HTC One doesn't start, keeps rebooting

Out of nowhere, my phone rebooted and kept rebooting without stopping. It continued until the battery was death. There was no way I could stop it..

Now if you put the charger in, it takes 5minutes or so and it continues the above: It starts booting than after a few seconds stops, falls out and starts booting again.. over and over again.

Tried to get in recovery mode, I get there, but before I can choose an option it shuts down again and the process repeats.

I have photos from a 3 months travelling on this phone..really want them back!

HELP!

I would recommend trying to replace your battery first. Your battery may not be storing enough charge to fully boot the phone. This could be caused from a failing battery. It may have enough power to turn on the device but not enough to boot into the operating system. From my experience the battery needs to be at around 3.4v to boot into the operating system. I am leaning toward a faulty battery because it shuts off after booting into recovery also. So me guess is the battery does not supply enough power to the phone. Usually if your battery is healthy but has a low charge you can plug it into a charger and get it to turn on and boot into the operating system. Now if you have a faulty battery it likely will not boot up. If you have been having any issue with charging the battery or it being recognized by your PC you may want to try cleaning your charge port out first to remove any build up. You may also want to make sure your power button is moving freely and is not getting stuck. There are many things that can cause boot loop. Some of the most common are failing batteries or power issues, failed updates or flashing/software issues, stuck power buttons just to name a few. Hope this help some.

Thanks Burnie!

I am starting to go towards faulty battery as well. The phone started the reboot loop, after I put it in the charger. No software update whatsoever.

Opened the back and checked the power button, it feels fine. When disconnecting after booting doesn't help, so i think it is a lack of power like you say or something very wrong with the motherboard or something.

Just ordered a new batt and will install it tomorrow probably. Will let you know about the result, fingers crossed for now !

I hope replacing the battery fixes your boot issue. I would love to know the results. Just curious which model of HTC One you have too? I wish you the best of luck on the repair. I will keep my fingers crossed too.

Took a little bit longer for the battery to arrive.. Model is the M7

I have taken the phone apart really carefully, except the battery which was glued on stuck and took some effort.

Unfortunately after putting everything precisely back together, the phone doesn't respond to anything anymore.. no boot, no lights, no charging, no nothing:(

Used the right tools, checked all the connections (all look and feel good and no damage anywhere), I put everything back in again, still no sign of life..:( Charging doesn't do anything either..

I am pretty handy and neat, so can't imagine I made a mistake somewhere.

Any suggestions?
