Does the Air and the air 2 use the same doc connector?

Looking to repair an Air 2 doc connector but cannot find a replacement part. Are the doc connector the same on both Air and Air2?

The part number on the Air doc connector is 821-1716-A

No, completely different. Even the soldering pads are on different sides.

Basically you can forget about interchangeable parts in iOS devices expect for a few of them.

Hello,

Unfortunately the lightning connector is soldered onto the logic board on the iPad Air 2 and as such it is not compatible across devices.

If you take a look at the teardown, you will be able to see the issue.
