Second HDD possible on 21.5'' model?

Hi there.

I read that the new 27 iMac can be ordered with a second (SSD) HDD with 2.5 in size. Since this isn't covered by any guide yet I would like to know if the 21,5 iMac also has a second HDD slot for a 2.5 drive or if that's a feature for 27'' iMacs only. I would love to add a 64GB SSD to my 500GB standard HDD.

Nope, unfortunately the 21.5-inch models do not have the third inboard SATA port which the 2010 27-inch models do. They also have far less space inside when looking for a spot to safely squeeze something in (I have some unfortunate experience in the unsafe squeezing in department). You do have various options for SSD upgrades which involve the replacement of the internal 3.5-inch hard drive or optical drive, however. You might check out OWC (macsales.com) for various parts they offer for such shenanigans.

Cheers,

Jason.
