Update my dsi and r4i card won't work

Hi! I updated my dsi xl in like 2012 and ever since then my 3ds r4i card won't work in it and I've been playing on my ds lite. I've just tried updating to the new firmware software and the card won't work in either my dsi xl or my ds lite now, can someone help me please?? I just want to fix it
