Phone dropped, screen dark. Faintly visible in direct sun light

Hard reset doesnt fix issue.

Reseated cables. No change

Have restored phone from backup.

Indoors, screen appears blank or off. Outside in direct sun, screen is faintly visible, but almost too faint to make out screen. Operational otherwise. Phone can connect to internet and receive phone calls.

Would love for it to be proximity sensor or loose cable.

Any thoughts?

I very much appreciate any help or suggestions.

Pete

You need a new LCD assembly because your current one is damaged. Just order one from ifixit and follow a guide to replace it. The connectivity problem is your antenna sauteed onto your charging port. So you will need a entirely new charging port to fix that. If you don't feel at home enough in the phone id recommend finding a shop for the charging port .

You must've broke your backlight or a ribbon cable when you dropped it. You will need to replace your entire lcd. iFixit offers replacement screens and you can follow their guides.

Thanks for the reply. Since you mentioned backlight, I have been doing some research on that. Sounds like it could be either screen or worse case an issue on the logic board. Any way to trouble shoot LCD issue vs Logic board issue?

Would a 6 plus screen connect to a 6 for testing purposes? ( I have a 6 plus also) Thanks in advance

You can find logic boards for fairly cheap (under $10) but it's probably screen damage. The local Genius Bar may be able to tell you if it's a display problem or not for free. I would suggest replacing the screen 1st.

The iPhone 6 Plus and 6 screens are not interchangeable due to different ribbon cable layout.

Where can you find a working logic board for $10? Are you talking about full functioning logic boards or bare boards that you have to solder components to? If you are talking about fully functioning boards, please link me.

Pete S, you are correct in your assumption that it could be your logic board. I truly hope not. You may want to take it to a local repair shop to run a diagnostic. They would probably put a screen on to test to see if the back light works.

Thanks Brian. Sounds like a reasonable approac, although I am too far from a Genius Bar. May try a local repair shop. Thanks again. Also I agree on logic board. $10? Doubtful

logic boards for fairly cheap (under $10) = Barebone boards without any components on them. There's no way you can get them that cheap unless they have like significant damage.
