This is a common issue. First, make sure you are in range of an existing Wi-Fi network and double check if your device's Wi-Fi is turned on and your settings are correct. Is the tablet's WiFi turned on? Can you 'see' the network name (or any other networks for that matter) that you want to connect to? What happens when you try to connect - are you required to connect using a password? What is actually happening when you try to connect?
