The vibrator can be replaced individually, but most places sell it as a part of the back panel due to shipping costs. Buy a back and remove the vibrator to install it in your phone.

Here is the guide for replacing it, but I don't believe iFixit sells the vibrator itself, I know on the 3G it was attached to the headphone jack, but I don't think it is so for the S. You'll have to look elsewhere for that.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the vibrator switch from the metal housing it's in? The original looks like a rivet because the back looks like a mushroom. The new switch which is part of the flex has the two legs but they are straight. Do I need to solder them or do anything else once I stick the new switch flex to the housing?
