Can I replace existing HDD with a used 320MB SATA Hard Drive

I have a nearly new HDD from an HP Pavilion laptop and I liked to use it to upgrade a 2006 MAC Mini. Can I do it? Does the HDD need to be swiped?

To answer the second question first---Yes you will need to erase the new drive and reformat it as a Mac drive. Then you would need to install an Mac operating system to use the new drive. You could do this with the drive installed but have your OS disk handy when you do it. (OS10.6.8 suggested)

If after reading this you want to continue I have included a link on how to install the hard drive into your unit,

Good luck.

I've recently replaced my A1176's 80 GB HD into a 250 GB HD, considering the life of old driver is coming to the end. You should use Time Machine to backup everything first. Then follow the guide of HDD replacement. Good luck.
