Does a finger scanner work after logic board replacement?

I have a black iPhone 6 and the original owner forgot his lock screen password. Is it possible to just replace the logic board and have the finger print scanner working like brand new?

I would say no, since the logic board and the touch ID sensor chip are "paired". They only work with each other.

However there are other solutions then replacing a logic board if the owner forgot his lock screen password. As long as the "owner" still knows his apple ID and pasword...
