Why can't I hear any of the videos on my camera?

I have recorded many videos on my Fujifilm FinePix S4200 camera, but I can't seem to hear any of the videos as I'm watching them playback. I know I recorded the videos right and I'm sure I set the volume as high is it goes. I just don't understand why there is no sound coming out.

It is possible that your sound is muted because it is turned off in your camera's settings. Make sure you go to your sound settings and raise the volume level. If this does not work, you may have damaged speakers. If this is the case, you might need to replace your camera's speakers. Hi @Teresa Harris,

What is the make and model number of the camera?

If it is a Finepix S4200 check that the silent mode setting is turned Off.

If it is Off and there is still no audio in a movie etc, make sure that the microphone is not covered during filming.

Here’s a composite image (derived from the user manual) that shows the setting location and where the microphone is located

I found that with my hs10 if you convert the footage from .mov to .mp4 using an online service, audio will magically come back into the footage. Play with VLC player first. I think it records audio in a weird format thats unsupported in most mac apps. Also make sure you are not shooting in high speed mode!

UPDATE: If you have a Mac, download Remux for Mac and directly convert the audio on the original files from the SD card to 2chAAC, leaving the video codec untouched, this will fix any audio incompatibility issues due to a weird formatting error during the initial encoding. Make sure you pick the container format as MP4, as this is the most compatible.
