Why won't my Dino respond to my hand gestures?

Hey, I am having trouble teaching my Dino tricks. A video I watched showed someone waving their hand in front of the Dino and it sat down. My Dino doesn't seem to react, what am I doing wrong?

Hello Adam. Please make sure that you are in an appropriate range for Zoomer Dino Boomer to sense your movements. You must be between 5 and 15 centimeters to the left or right of the Dino's sensors. Additionally, your hand must not be above or below Dino's sensors by 10 centimeters.
