The fifth Google Nexus phone. Officially announced on October 31, 2013, it sports a 4.95" 1080p display, a 2.26 GHz Snapdragon processor, and LTE support. Powered by Android 4.4.2, KITKAT. Manufactured by LG.

Nexus 5 won't turn on (display works, full battery)

I dropped my Nexus 5. Not far, about 2 feet from a sitting position but it wouldn't power back on again even though it was 98% before dropping. I haven't seen anyone with this problem before and hope you could help.

Things I have tried:

Holding down the power button for 30 seconds - nothing happens.

Plugging in the phone: The charging lightning bolt appears for a few seconds then goes away. It doesn't come back unless I unplug and plug back in.

Removed the battery connections for 2 minutes, put it all back together - no different.

Any suggestions?

Despite the full battery, I tried taking it out and putting it back in... No difference. I bought a new $11 battery and put it in, and it works!

Not sure how the battery died from a small drop, I didn't see any physical damage but a new battery fixed it.

Try connecting it to a USB on a computer for a little bit and try to power it on. Note any sounds, vibrations and lights of the device.

OK, tried that and while the lightning bolt was visible I held down the power button and got a single vibration and saw the Google loading screen for half a second before the screen went black again. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and repeated it a few times but can't get past the Google logo before it shuts itself off

Despite the battery being only 2 months old and lasting 16 hours / day, could it be possible the small drop somehow killed the battery? I've opened up the phone and it doesn't have any damage that I can see

This happened to me and I started it in recovery mode by plugging it in and holding down Power + Volume Up+ Volume Down, then choosing Start from the menu.
