the CD/DVD drive does not eject the disk. I have tried all regular ways to no avail . I can hear the drive trying to eject, but cannot eject it.

If you hear the drive trying to eject and it wont, then conventional methods of ejecting might not work. You might have to open your machine and physically remove the CD. Pick the exact model of your machine here and chose any repair manual that'll help you get inside the machine, preferably a manual for the optical drive. Good luck

Go to Applications--Utilities Launch Terminal.app type drutil eject then press return
