Sony TV Black screen

why does my Sony 46" LCD screen go black after about 30 min running and than after 6hr I can turn it on again and get a picture only to have it shut down again after another 30 min?

Lonn Freeland possibly bad caps or the power board. Have you opened it up yet? Unplugged of course and don't touch anything on the inside for a while:-) You also want to make sure that it has good airflow and not to much dust on the inside. You say it's a 46" but picked the 40" device. What model is your TV? Let us know what you find
