What's the fix for a screen that displays sand?

Dropped my tablet. The screen didn't crack or break but now it only displays tiny colored dots...looks like sand. (see attachment)

A PC recognizes the device via USB but unable to access file since it's still locked.

Any suggestions on where to start?

ASUS estimates the repair will cost at least $200 but a new tablet costs less.

The lcd display was damaged, but whether ASUS or repair shops will charge you the cost of a whole lcd assembly to make the repair work easier. You can buy a replacement part and repair it by yourself. That costs much cheaper. For the screen replacement, they have the part: http://www.etradesupply.com/asus-google-...
