Fourth generation iPhone. Repair is straightforward, but the front glass and LCD must be replaced as a unit. GSM / 8, 16, or 32 GB capacity / Model A1332 / Black and White. This page aims to help users troubleshoot, fix, and seek help for the iPhone 4.

internal speakers on in the morning off in the afternoon. Why?

Hi,

The internal speakers on my iPhone work when I get up in the morning but stop between 11:00 and 11:30, so far.

Then I plug in external speakers for the rest of the day.

When the internal speakers go down, the bell icon appears without a progress bar when I push the volume buttons.

Let me go into a little more detail.

The same icon is used for both the ringer and volume

controls.

When working, the icon appears with the label "" and a progress bar at the bottom.

The ringer version has the label "Ringer" at the top. When external speakers are used, the icon has the label "Headphones" at the top with a progress bar at the bottom.

When not working the icon appears with the label "Ringer" and no progress bar when the VOLUME controls are used.

This is no doubt due to my using alcohol to loosen up the home button about a week ago. The screen showed a lot of spots and smears on three levels. Most all has evaporated.

Next time I'll use less and make it 90% instead of 70%.

The problem may eventually disappear. I'm considering opening up the back to speed up the evaporation process. Any insights to the problem will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Jim Jułian

First and foremost (and without affording any delay) remove the logic board using this guide. Clean only the logic board gently with 90%+ isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and a soft toothbrush. Do not use alcohol on the screen and other components of the phone. You may ruin them.

Do the same just for the charging dock using this guide. Make sure to brush inside where the charging cable connects.

At this point, you may consider removing the display assembly as well using this guide to help it dry faster. But you could break the LCD when separating the glued assembly from the frame, so be warned.

Finally, dry eveything (air-drying is fine), re-assemble, and test your phone. Let us know if this solves your problem.
