help on repairing/rebuilding my iPhone 4.

Hey ifixit geniuses i am trying to revive my old iphone 4. It has tons of memories on it and i want to be able to keep those while bringing this phone back to life. The phone only charges when off or out of batteries so it will not connect to my computer to save to transfer data. I have tried a hard reset and it wont update because it doesnt have enough space. I guess i could just replace the charger port but I dont want to put time and money into something that wont be worth it. I want to rebuild it basically but have that memory on the new phone. Basically i guess i am asking can the circuit board be removed from this old chassis into a new one so i can keep the memory on it. im looking to purchase this one to do this with. http://www.chinahcs.com/iphone-middle-fr...

Thank you al very much!

Hello yes a frame change will work but I have seen the problem with iPhone 4 tht only charges when off and it's a motherboard problem not a part problem but you will no when you put board into a working frame

So Wade i dont get that answer really. Con how can i fix the motherboard on it then so i can just transfer the data from the broken phone before i do the repairs

First thing to do really is change the charging port it's inexpensive at only a few dollars.

This way you will no if it works then save your data and buy the new midframe with confidence knowing it will work..

If it doesn't work then it's the motherboard I would contact Jessabethany@gmail.com if you have any questions if it turns out to be a motherboard problem

iPhone 4 Dock Connector Replacement

Here is a guide now this includes taking the motherboard out this can be done with out removing the motherboard and just disconnecting the dock flex and taking the speaker out..

This should give you enough room to change the port without motherboard disassembled

Looks like a frame does when you do a screen replacement. Should work.

The frame you are looking to buy, looks just like a frame does when you disassemble it for repairs. I said I thought the frame should work.

Hoffman--Without fully installing it, you can just overlay your new charging port as is onto the connector at the logic board, then plug in battery, boot phone, and then see if it will connect to iTunes via the new partially installed port. Could save some trouble and still answer your question.
