iPhone won't power on after repair.

I had and iPhone 4s for a while, when I dropped it and broke the screen. I would still power on as I could see some lighting on the screen. I ordered a new screen for the 4s. Following a tutorial I did the replacement correctly and with the right tools. After doing the repair and reassembling the phone correctly, the phone would not power on. I have disassembled and reassembled the phone many times ensuring all the cables were connected properly. I've tried to charge the phone with no result. I have tried to connect the iPhone to my computer also and it is not recognized in iTunes. I have also tried to hard reset the iPhone, nothing works. Help please?

Also I have tried to hook the old screen back up and theres no lighting on it anymore, i have check and all the ribbon cables are fine.

HI was your phone running IOS 5? The new screen units out of China have a new IC fitted on the lcd. If this new type screen unit is fited to a phone running ios 5.1.1 for instance then not only doesnt the screen work at all but the phone wont boot up either! I have had this problem with new 4 and 4s screens from 4 different sources , im lucky that i keep a fair few and have been able to use old stock screens or have been able to update the phone software on such phones using the old screen unit before i change screen. You can verify that this may be your problem, unplug both lcd and digitizer plugs . (disconnect battery first , then plug back in after)then plug phone into p/c after awhile the phone should be recognised by itunes etc. If this is the case your old screen probably totaly failed when removing. If you have no other screen units available and you think you were running ios 5 etc and you were not using it because of jailbreak etc. IF you havnt a backup of your phone then you still should be able to get one without the screen plugged in, if you had a password on your phone it would be harder , you could try just pluging digitizer plug in and guessing where the keys for your password are so you can get passed it to make a backup.

You should be able to get software update with screen unit disconnected by doing this. Make sure phone is off by briefly unplugging battery then plug back in. Hold home button in and connect to p/c via usb cable. Wait to the phone is detected in recovery mode. Restore the phone. When it says its complete, disconnect from pc . Unplug battery, connect screen and plug battery in see if you have solved your problem. Good luck.

@George Harris, I have really been clueless about this whole thing untill now, that was somehing completely unknown to me, yes the phone is on an older version, most likely ios5 because it was infact jailbroken, I did manage to get the old screen to light up and the phone was recognized, but when i connected the new screen nothing would happen, i was under the assumption that i had bought a faulty screen. I have tried to guess where the passcode was, with no sucess. I figured id install a new screen before i risk disabling it. Im just going to update the phone and try the new screen after, id rather have a working iphone wiped clean than one i cant use. Ill try this probably tomorrow and get back to you on the outcome, thanks again

Hi Mohammed

I used the advice above

Attaching the digitiser only and having powered down, powered up, swiped to unlock and then used my pass code by guessing the location of the numbers. Having powered up and unlocked the phone was recognised by my laptop so I updated the iOS to the current one. This took ages but once done I then powered down, reconnected the screen to the mother board and powered up the phone. To my amazement and joy the screen lit up so that I could swipe and unlock.

Hence my post

Good luck. If your phone is not knackered and needs the most current iOS it will work with a good deal of time and patience.

To add on to the original question.. I replaced the screen and it was working for a while but when i clipped the screen all the way into my phone, I tried testing it again and it wouldn't light up.. It still gets battery power because it vibrates and I can still connect it to my computer..

Would restoring it work? Or did I ruin the wires for the new screen?
