Logic board replacement (swap in a mid-2010, 2.66)

Checked this thread first: Upgrading logic board with mid 2010 model

It did not seem very helpful, in that there is no clear answer there.

From what i can gather, a mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13" 2.66 GHz Logic Board will directly replace my current board. Chipset locations, mounting holes (through the PCB), and ports are all identical and there should be no issues mounting to my mid-2009 case.

Question:

1- Do the refurb'd boards sold here by ifixit come with the serial numbers wiped, so that I can restore my current serial number to the new board (makes integration to the iCloud and iTunes store vastly simpler)?

2- What kind of software issues will I need to be prepared to mitigate? (Note: my current MBP now a bit older, is a 3rd generation image that started on an Intel MacBook in 2006, transferred via HD swap to a newer MacBook in 2008, and then finally migrated, again via a HD swap to the current machine. Along the way I have upgraded the OS from 10.5, to 10.6, yadda, yadda, yadda....and copied the image to bigger HDs for swap in as well. I do not fear software issues, just want to know what to expect.)

Thanks!

I have successfully installed a 2010 Macbook Pro Logic board into a 2009 case/Screen and a 2009 MB Pro logic board into a 2010 Case/ Screen. I can't verify for the 2008 unibody aluminum model but I suspect no, because the battery assembly is different. Hope this helps. I don't know if this really answers your question. I don't use icloud but when I have switched harddrives between computers and tried to open apps I bought from the app store it will let me use it on the new computer as long as I authorize it with my Apple ID. I assume icloud works that same way.

Hello... I actually am curious about this specifically. I have a mid-2009 Macbook Pro and would like to swap the Logic Board with one from a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro. All the ports look like they line up and all the spots for the ribbon cables look the same. Is this possible? What hiccups did you encounter?
