I recommend opening up the iPod and making sure everything is plugged in correctly. Sometimes a problem like this is caused by a simple loose connection. Will the iPod turn on if plugged into a computer? If it does, then you may need to restore the iPod and let the battery fully charge.

The mini shows the charging animation (battery w. lightning bolt) when it's charging in standby mode (only when it's not connected to itunes)
Replaced the battery-now the ipod will not go on only the applee logo stays on even i put it on the charger on?
