Sorry this is not an answer but to say I am exactly in the same situation and far away from my local apple store in manhattan new York. I am traveling in India and my MacBook air has gone into a sleep mode and nothing is powering it up. It's almost costing me my trip as a writer! Please help. It's only 1 year old. Awam
