I got the same problem, gray lines on the IMac I bought one year and three months ago. I worked around the issue by buying a monitor (S$250) and use it to mirror the main IMac monitor. I think Apple staff were aware of this option. But instead, they attempted to persuade me to repair the mirror or buy a refurbished iMac.
