Not highlighting text consistently

My MX Vertical mouse began to skip lines when I was highlighting text on my Mac. It was 2 1/2 years old, but it had worked perfectly until last month. I tried a number of things, but the one thing I could not do was hardware reset the mouse. The model that went bad was made in China, and the new model I purchased was made in Vietnam.

I purchased a new MX Vertical which works perfectly. As I was about to dispose of the old mouse and disconnect its battery for recycling, I thought disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes and reconnecting it would in effect perform a hardware reset. I put it all back together and--it did. The OLD mouse works perfectly now. I was able to unscrew the four screws underneath the slick tape, but there was a fifth internal post at the very bottom of the mouse that I had to snap.

I am kind of upset that I could not perform a hardware reset on the mouse without taking the whole thing apart and snapping that last post. I would not have had to purchase a new mouse if there was some way to do it, such as press a certain combination of buttons, etc. I'm hoping you can do something for me for the trouble and expense I've gone through with it.[br]

I opened a tech ticket, Ticket#15628595. [br]

I hope in a future firmware update you can implement a hardware reset.
