My Wii scratches certain game discs?

-Heyo! I haven’t used my Wii in a bit, but as I was gearing up to play a game, I remembered an old issue that we could never find a reason for. When certain games are played on my Wii, they develop a carved scratch in a perfect circle on the disk. This then causes the game to be unplayable. The most devastating for me was Mario Party 8. We tried buying a new copy, but the same issue repeated itself. The other notable example was the Monopoly game, though it specifically killed the “modern” portion of the game. I was thinking of replacing the disk drive, but I’d love to know if this is something other people have experienced.

My Wii is a pretty early one, but I won’t know specifics until I get home.
