Am I correct in assuming you've verified your remote is working, leaving the TV itself as the source of the problem?

Turn on your phone's camera and point the remote at it. Press any button on the remote and you should see a violet light in the camera (it's not visible to the naked eye). A flashing light says the remote is working; if you don't see a light then chances are the problem is with the remote, not the TV - even if you've put new batteries in it.
