Do both sides of the record sound distorted or only the B side?
If only the B side can you try a different record to see if it plays OK on both sides?
Does the distortion sound like the record is playing too slowly or too quickly?
If too slowly it may be a stretched belt which drives the turntable.

If too quickly then usually there's a potentiometer located in the turntable drive motor circuit that is used to adjust the speed of the motor. This can also be checked in the case the belt is OK and it plays too slowly.
