Huge thanks to everyone that posted here. I have a Bosch shx5er55uc that stopped during filling of the rinse cycle without error code. I learned how to go into diagnostic mode and uncovered error E18. It was an intermittent problem that gradually got worse so very hard to diagnose. At first I could get it to work by avoiding auto mode, then only in with quick wash. Based on this forum and others, I ordered a 40 pack of cheap reed switches 14mm x 2mm, costing just 20 cents each. Rather than spending too much on that tiny circuit board in the flow meter, I unsoldered and replaced the reed switch. That fixed it. The old reed switch measured some resistance when closed, about 1000 ohms when magnet approached, and a few ohms when magnet was very close. The new reed switch is strictly open or closed, no resistance. Don't get caught up on the exact reed switch model number; mine looked different inside than the original with smaller reeds. Only a tiny current goes through these.
