@dcdobbs the power cord heats up because of an excessive current running through it. You want consider having an electrician check your outlet to make sure it can handle the amperage your washer needs. Also, you do need to check the washer to see why it draws to many amps. At minimum you will need a multimeter and preferably a clamp ammeter. You can get those relatively inexpensive at major hardware store or somewhere online.
