Preventing lid glass cover (not screen!) cracking from getting worse

At this point, it is purely cosmetic. The cracked area is outside the actual display area, it's just part of the lid. But I'm concerned that this crack might expand and make using the screen impossible. Is there anything I can and should do, to prevent this from getting worse?
I kinda like the laptop a lot and don't ''want'' to replace it.[br]
I've added lots of RAM, replaced the battery (although I'll have to do that again now), and the fingerprint reader stopped working pretty early on (but that's just Lenovo's $@$*!& software support). Other than that, I'm quite happy with this laptop, and wouldn't mind using it a few more years instead of producing more trash!
That's why I'm proactively hoping to get some advice on how to 'preserve' the current state.
FYI: the missing little piece left of the hinge fell out months before the screen issue. I still have it, but have never remounted (-glued) it. That might have contributed to the screen damage — or maybe it's entirely unrelated, no idea. Just wanted to mention this in case it might be an essential component of the solution here.
