@janelynch29757 it will help if we know how many times it does beep. It is possible that this is a bad battery but it is also possible that this is related to the motors. Have you had a chance to open it up and to clean it out. You'd be surprised how much dusty and dirt can build up on the inside. Try something like this guide [guide|149295] and see if there is a lot of debris/dirt in on the motherboard etc.
To proceed, I'd clean it well and replace the battery (just because of age. Then re-evaluate.
