THE FIX IS HERE:

No matter what refrigerator you may have, I believe, what I am about to tell you will fix this problem.   I have LG refrigerator and have had this problem of "Ice maker on the door making ice, but not dumping it, unless I pressed the reset button” but that is not the solution, it is frustrating!   I had this problem for couple of years.  I finally got an expensive extended warranty to tackle this issue.

they sent three different teams to fix this problem with no success.  they changed the door ice maker, the craft ice maker on the bottom freezer, and even changed the motherboard and they tested the crap out of the system to no avail....      Finally, it happened, on the 4th go around the technician spoke with the LG Engineer  and what he did FIXED the problem:

The reason that door icemaker makes ice but doesn’t drop is the high temperature.

-          The lower icemaker vent to door icemaker are does not provide the cooler temperature.

-          Behind the fan on the bottom icemaker where the colling fins are, is iced up and therefore cooling which is provided by the fins is restricted, hence not enough cool temperature reaches the door icemaker are, and the sensor does not allow the ice to drop in the bin, because it does not sense the proper (lower temperature).

-          So there are two ways to fix this problem:

o   Thake the cover off of the lower icemaker and using hair dryer melt the ice where the fan suppling the cold temperature up to door icemaker is.. or if it is too difficult to do so,

o    Empty the refrigerator (by moving all your stuff to anther refrigerator, or cooler) an open the doors of the refrigerator and let the ice melt that way.

I hope this solves your door icemaker problem.

Ken
