I hadvthe same issue. There's a magnet or a piece of metal in the brew cup that when slid over to allow the coffee to brew it deactivates the brew stop feature. There's a screw on the bottom of the brew cup so I removed the bottom of the brew cup. The piece of metal was almost totally rusted away. I cleaned and scraped it off real good with a small jewelers type screw driver. I then inserted a long thin metal screw that fit snug in the hole where the metal or magnet piece was. Put the brew cup back together and it's been working now for a couple of months. Just seems like it was a poor design.
