Context: when I broke the screen initially, only touch was not working where it was registering phantom touches and parts of the touch screen would not register my own touches. It had full display output at the beginning. Then gradually over the course of a few days the output deteriorated as parts of the output got discoloured and then there was only a few pixels, showing only in blue, and then no output at all as it is now.

Context: I believe that there may have been water damage but I am not sure as the phone was both dropped and splashed but not submerged when I broke it. When I broke the screen initially, only touch was not working where it was registering phantom touches and parts of the touch screen would not register my own touches. It had full display output at the beginning. Then gradually over the course of a few days the output deteriorated as parts of the output got discoloured and then there was only a few pixels, showing only in blue, and then no output at all as it is now.
So I got the repair kit from iFixit and followed the guide to disconnect the old screen.
After connecting the new screen to test it before applying the new adhesive, I powered on the phone and nothing showed up, but it would respond to touch. The phone was definitely on as I got vibrations and sound. I could even sign in by remembering where the keys are located on the screen and see that it was fully functional by connecting with adb and using scrcpy.
I'm not sure where to go from here because I have no idea whether it's the replacement screen that doesn't work or if the output is just completely broken. Should I be asking iFixit for a replacement for the screen?
