This happened to me twice. My screen went black after I dropped it. No cracking of the screen. Phone still worked (sounds, etc). I tried replacing the screen. The first time I replaced it it worked fine for a few months. Then it went black out of nowhere. Replacing the screen a second time did not fix it. I don't know exactly what's wrong with it but I hope that helps.
