With a backlight issue, the borders would not this well defined. Furthermore, your TV uses Edge backlighting, meaning it gets the backlight from the top and the bottom. If one (or even two) of those LEDs would have failed your picture would have been dark from either the top down or bottom up, but not somewhere in the middle.
I would start off by removing thew back cover and checking all of the ribbon cables. Remove those, check for corrosion, tears and any other damage. Next check the driver boards (long skinny boards) that connect directly to the LCD. Check for any area or component that looks damaged etc.
