If there's no indication that the battery is charging when the charger is connected and presumably there's no obvious screen damage, the only thing that I can think of that may be the problem is that either the battery has failed beyond recovery or there's a problem on the systemboard.
Given that you got it new in May '24 then as there's a 12 month ''manufacturer's warranty'' on the device (depending on your location perhaps) which would still be valid, contact Kobo as per the advice in the warranty statement for your location and ask for a refund or replacement.
