Oh sh*t it worked!! 2020 Macbook Pro, new battery from 3rd party. Powered down, disconnected charger, disconnected battery connector, powered on, then powered off, reconnected battery connector, turned back on and violá. Worked like a charm. Took 2 attempts I think I didn’t connect the battery connector correctly the first time. Many thanks.
