Help with retrieving files from (mac) hard drive I physically removed

Hello all, I really need help... So that my story makes sense... I had a 2010 mac labtop that would not turn on, and I had some old photos and videos of family/friends etc... I physically opened this labtop and removed the hard drive and am trying to get the files off of it. I opened this hard drive on another mac labtop I have, but the message "macOS can't repair the disk Macintosh HD" popped up. I bought a new hard drive to see how i could transfer my files, can anyone please help me!! Thank you for future help!!!
