MacBook won’t charge after old water damage

Spilt a small amount of water around the middle of my MacBook a few months ago and it would turn on but wouldn’t charge. Yesterday I tried charging my MacBook and it worked. However, when I tried charging it today, the charger light stayed black

. If not my battery then what part of my laptop could be damaged?
