stuck on android recovery, I cant select factory reset.

after flashing a firmware, android recovery pops up saying "cant load android system, your data may be corrupt, and gives me 3 options 1.(Try again) 2.(factory data reset) 3.(view recovery logs) but it wont let me select any of them, the volume keys move through the options, but no matter what i try i cant press any option, so im not sure what to do next.
