Disc no longer spins after replacing laser head of optical drive

Discs were no longer being read so after some troubleshooting, I ordered a replacement laser head for the optical drive PVR-802W. After following [guide|135413|this guide] the disc no longer spins at all. I assume something I did was wrong. The 2 things I can think of are either:
* I do not have a soldering station and I think the replacement part had a anti-static security
* During replacement, I uncoupled all 3 ribbon cables. It's possible they are not set correctly or (hopefully not) even broken
Any suggestions or expertise here is appreciated.
