So I tried to see if I could revive the battery by adding water to the cells since they were dry.

Since the battery was dry, I attempted to revive it by adding water to the cells. Afterward:

I then reconnected the battery and turned the ups on to start charging the battery. After a while of charging I heard a pop and saw a flash of light. I then immediately turned it off. And promptly smelled the magic smoke from one of the components.

Unfortunately, after charging for a while, I heard a ***pop*** and saw a ***flash of light***. I immediately turned the UPS off and noticed the smell of "magic smoke" from one of the components.

It hasn't started since. And the I've since learned that the battery has an internal short.

I later found out the battery had an ***internal short***. Since then, the UPS hasn’t started.

I can't seem to identify which component died (if it did).
