I just got this MacBook Air from someone who hasn’t touched it since 2015. As you can imagine, the battery’s all messed up.
Once in the U.S. again, I’m going to get a new battery. Here’s what’s odd though: when I connect the battery, the MagSafe lights up green (not horribly odd with a bad battery), but lights up amber with the battery disconnected. On every Mac I’ve ever worked with, MagSafe should ALWAYS be GREEN when the battery disconnects.
To conclude, I think this is an SMC issue. But, since this is a 2012 Mac, I can’t run Apple Diagnostics (I’ve tried every way possible). So, here’s me question: is there a way to check the SMC further? Because I would have to look at a new logic board at the point if the SMC is messed up, and not the battery (and I REALLY don’t want to replace it). Any thoughts on how to diagnose this thing would be great!
Thanks in advance!!

Apple Hardware Test that I downloaded from GutHub:

What’s odd enough, the Apple Hardware Test actually boots on other machines, just not this one… odd.
