@joilet This is a 8 year old question but somehow it popped up on the list. I am certain by now you either have it fixed or have a new calculator. Anyhow, this "line down the right side" and the fact that it is fading points to a bad display or corroded display adapter. Use something like [https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mY-tI4WQDfA|this video] to resolder the ribbon cable. If that does not work you may have to replace the screen. There are different versions for the screen, so you will have to get the LCD number from the current display since it will be specific to your calculator.
