Dell 0G0PMP charging cable condition advice

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Dear Repair Community,

First of all, I would like to wish Everyone a Happy International Repair Day!

This is the day we unite and share our philosophy that our Planet Earth doesn't have to become the planet of e-waste but a place for a better future.

Secondly, I surprised myself this week with a Dell Latitude 5310 that was claimed to be "refurbished." Sadly, I opened the laptop and I had to encounter multiple errors which I fixed, but still one remaining.

The battery connector cable is falling apart in a way that the first four cables our coming out from the plastic connector as you disconnect it from the socket of the Mobo. Now I managed to push them back as far as I could but when you pull the connector again, they are coming out.

As a result, I took out the battery [that was aftermarket also] together with the cable and I am currently using it without the battery inside.

My question is towards my community is, Should I buy a new cable? Or is it safe to use it this way? I would not use it as I presume it is worn out a little bit. I found on parts-people.com in stock the cable.

See below on the picture the condition of the connector.

Thank your very much Everyone and as always I am grateful for our community!
