I wish the instructions had even a brief note about trying a reset. After getting my new doorbell installed it would not connect. I tried the manual connect by pushing the orange button on the side but still nothing. The only solution per the ring app was that I didn't have power to the unit and to consult an electrician. I knew I had enough power because I checked it with a voltmeter and had 20v. It was only through reading this forum that I learned about holding the orange button long enough to do a hard reset, and after that it booted up like it was supposed to. Frustrating, but fortunately I didn't take a hammer to it like I really wanted to!
