So if u buy a complete new replacement disc drive it's not just plug and play the board thats in the original disc drive is mated to the actual motherboard/ I learned this cause my disc drive broke all the internal plastic mechanisms gears and all the flimsy crap I bought a new disc drive but hard to swap board and laser from the original one to the new one
